Can I Get an AMEN!

As I've mentioned, every day in these parts is like a box of cheap chocolates. We hope for the best and pray in preparation for the ... not.so.best.

Now that we've figured out that our 14 year old is in full-on grieving mode, the days are more bearable. We are more able to claim God's renewed mercies, draw from His strength and cling to the hope that this season won't last forever!

Every school day is a challenge, especially at this time when his grief is causing confusion and lack of concentration. I often wonder if he's learning anything I'm teaching. To top it off, he's not a morning person at.all! About noon he perks up, on a good day.

BUT TODAY I had a happy student from the get-go! He was excited that his hair is getting too long and stands straight up after the shower. He was not irritated that the kids were loud. He was not annoyed that the sun is shining. He was not upset that it is daytime...

We are seeing light at the end of the tunnel, and it's not the train!

Lord, I thank You that even when we are so far into the pit we fail to recognize You that You are STILL THERE. Thank You for giving us glimpses outside the pit and for ultimately bringing us out, desiring to refine us every teeny.tiny.step of the way! AMEN!

What's amazing to me is that it has taken you 6 months to figure this out!!!! Did your agency not mention this to you? He is is also a 14yr old teenager acting as they can. But as I see it he has no friends and is very isolated & does not have the language skills to express himself/ feelings. Just praying is not always the answear... You/he need help in getting through this.

Let the redemption begin!!! Praise you Father for always going before us and working all these teeny, tiny moments in our lives to work for Your glory! Lord we pray you will continue to be with Kooper as he learns most importantly what Your love looks like but also the love of this precious family that you have provided for Him. Praise You for Your faithfulness in loving and guiding all of us! In Jesus precious name, Amen!!

Yay Kooper!!!!!! Hang in there momma!!! And grab your sunglasses cuz that light at the end is gonna get brighter!!

PRAISE GOD!!! Kooper has come so far over the last six months. Good days and tough days are a part of adoption. What makes it so special is knowing that God predestined this young man to be your son and you to be his momma long ago. Your support and love for Kooper is evident in his progress. Just remember - you have ALL come so far!!!

Blessings,

Diane

Connie,
He does remember what you teach him trust me!! Just keep your chin up and keep PRAYING!!!! He is 14 and isolation is helong his learnign ability right now for sure!! Friedns are not something he needs right now, tha may be harsh but it really isn't. He needs to know how to act with friends, and he can't do that because he is not equipt to no friend from foe! I know it is hard, but each day is a new day! Also just remember Proverbs 16:3!!!
Love ya!!! Erica

Connie,
You are doing an amazing job and putting his needs first. Parenting an older adopted child is one of the most difficult and rewarding experiences of a lifetime. It is not always easy to know the right course of action for our children...do we ever know for certain what we are doing?? My 10 yr old was adopted 2 yrs ago and she still has grieving moments. I am not sure if that will ever stop or go away. I am sure that I am priveledged to be her mother and watch her grow in her relationship with Jesus. Some days are easier and some days are harder but we get through it together.
Blessings,
You are an awesome mom.
Melanie

Connie... just keep your head up and don't worry about the negative comment posted. That was very big of that person to attack you anonymously. I think you are doing exactly what I would be doing. Praying for you because God is bigger then all things. Heidi
