Our Family Thanks You!

Corn harvest 2015 is over, and we survived!  This year's crop was the second best we've had since we began raising sweet corn 7 years ago.  We praise the Lord for His crop.  What an incredible year we've had, and He gets all the glory!

We also owe a huge THANK YOU to our customers!  You are more than customers to us; you are friends.  We realize that no matter how good the crop is, without you it wouldn't be a success.  As long as the Lord allows, we will continue to rise at 3 a.m., hand sort the best, and have it ready for you.  We look forward to seeing you next year!

Sorting starts at 5 a.m....

...and breakfast is always welcomed at 6:30 between trailer loads.

We sorted load after load of corn...

...sometimes in the rain.

We loaded the trailer...

... and pickups...

(true story, this guy had an accident last October that left him in a wheelchair and then a walker for over three months!  Praise God for healing!)

...and then these three would deliver the goods to the designated locations and serve our customers.

Little sisters begged every.single.day to go with the trailer.  They did a great job making dozens and counting change!

And then the cantaloupe starting producing!

And the days would eventually end with lots of food...

...including corn, of course...

...and even a little friendly competition.

Being the Top Notch Procrastinator that I am, I might have waited until the last week to cut our corn for freezing.

(I have so much help!)

We squeezed a lot of life out of the five weeks of harvest, including two birthday parties, our 30th anniversary, a baptism (thank You, Jesus!), a serial casting, and time with dear friends.  We're a little tired, but there's no time to chill because school starts this week so we'll keep on rollin'.

Once Again...

...we interrupt this regularly scheduled chaos to bring you sweet corn harvest!

The first two days have sold out!

As always, the alarm rings much too early, and we go to bed much too late, but it's a short season, and we will survive.  Almost every Krew member really wants to help in some way or another (well, except for the ones who have to be on the sorter at 5 a.m.).  We're letting them take turns going with Dad, count back change and take orders.  Maybe by next year they'll run the show ;-)

Life is This...

The Lord has blessed us with an incredible harvest!

The crop just keeps producing!

 We've had to make some priority changes this summer.  It feels like we're just hunkered down here on the farm, alienated from the activities going on around us.  And maybe we are...for a season.
The crop is so abundant that it requires much attention.
So our prayer has been that we would be diligent in stewarding the Lord's crop.  And satisfied in Him.

 He has given us energy in times of exhaustion.
He has given us strength in times of weakness.
He has given us hope in times of struggle.
We have spent a lot of time together as a family.
Of course, that's always peachy *ahem*.
Our sorters start at 5 am, so we've ditched the frozen waffles and cold cereal (and there's nothing wrong with those!) for homemade breakfast every morning.

 We still have over 2 weeks of harvest left.
We are tired, but we are so blessed!
We praise the Lord for His crop!

If You Give a Kid a Hoe...

Since Mr. Greenthumb raises some of the best sweet corn around...and melons, and cantaloupe, and cucumbers...we have a lot of weeds to keep up with!  And since Mr. Greenthumb learned to use a hoe when he was "knee high to a grasshopper," we thought it was high time our Treasures learned to take care of the produce they love to eat.

It was a great idea, in theory.

He shared the special technique of proper hoeing, just as his dad shared with him years ago.

All that wisdom and sound teaching reaped the reward of...

But they worked as a team!

And then the rain came!

We Now Return to Our Regularly Scheduled Khaos

Corn harvest 2013 is officially over!!!

But let's recap...

Our faithful 5 a.m. sorting help!  We couldn't do it without them.

 The sales crew.                The cuteness factor.

The office space.

 The corn cutters.

Day after day.  We cut 6 bags of corn this year!

I love serving breakfast to the crew!

The Kutest crop of all...

It was nearly 5 exhausting weeks.  But we always look forward to next year.  God raised an amazing crop this year.  And He brought the people to buy the corn.
