Finally...and Finally! *praising GOD*

It is with a grateful and humble heart that I am finally able to announce the winner of the iPad Mini 32GB:
KATHY ROBERTS
who contributed at 6:51 pm on February 25th!
Congratulations, Kathy!!!

We want to thank everyone who prayed, shared and contributed!

The reason it's taken me so long to post this is we lost power during the blizzard Monday, and we are only running on generator power tonight (thank you, Jesus!).  We may have power within the next 4 days.  It's a little chaotic here, but we praise God that everyone is well!

There's more!
Eight short months ago, we fell in love with our precious girl, and we literally started fundraising the day we submitted LOI!  We had nothing.  Nada.  Zip.  Zilch.  Zero.

That was eight months ago.
We committed to work tirelessly to bring Khloie home.  But sometimes we can work our fingers to the bone, and it still isn't enough.  We have to trust.
Here are the fundraisers we've had over the last 8 months:

1) Nikon D5100 ~ raised $1735
2) kindle fire ~ raised $140
3) hp Pavilion g7 ~ raised $539
4) garage sale ~ raised $1221
5) mums ~ raised $959
6) $500 gift card ~ raised $757
7) Wild Olive Tees ~ raised $720
8) Nikon D5100 ~ raised $2968
9) Faith & Hope Necklaces ~ raised $360
10) On-line Auction ~ raised $2418
11) Canon T3i Rebel ~ raised $2917
12) Apple iPad Mini 32GB ~ raised $1050
13) Squeaky Shoes ~ raised $200
14) Adoption Decals ~ raised $300
15) Both Hands ~ Pending

We had cleaned out closets and given stuff away, sold stuff, moved stuff around, until we were finally ready to travel...except for one small detail.  We lacked funds.

For some reason unknown to us, Khloie's adoption process has moved along at record pace *and we're ok with that!*  So, almost two weeks ago our pastor friend asked Clayton to stand before the church and share exactly where we were.  It was beyond humbling.  But God has done something amazing since then.  At that time we needed more than $16,000.  That was less than two weeks ago.  Today...
WE ARE FULLY FUNDED!!!
That is the God we serve.  He is faithful.  He speaks to the hearts of His people.  And they have responded.  You have responded.
Thank you, church family.
Thank you, family.
Thank you, friends.
You have all played a part in bringing Khloie home.  You have invested in her life.  You have raised the ransom.  And in 11 days, she will be in our arms!!!

Many have also given toward our Both Hands project, originally scheduled for this weekend.  We have rescheduled the project for April.  We didn't expect to travel this quickly.  But the reschedule has turned out to be a good thing because of the weather and power outages.  We want to devote our full time and attention to this project and serving this beautiful widow.  Stay tuned for a project update, and then a video!

Tonight will you please PRAISE GOD with us!
We are in awe of His provision, of His faithfulness, and of your generosity!

HE IS GOOD, ALWAYS!

Can You Help? (iPad Mini Tonight!)

We love our adoption agency!
We have chosen them to help bring home 6 of our children!
We are expecting our final invoice today, and then we are to wire those fees to China.
We are the lucky winners of a slightly-higher-than-estimated cost list :)
This morning Karla called to share this with us, and let us know that she made sure it was correct.  We still have 10 days before travel!

Soooo... if you've been wanting an Apple iPad Mini, we've got it!
We will draw for it tonight!
*$25 gets 1 shot
*$50 gets 3 shots
*Blog or FB post gets an additional shot
Please email me if you have problems with Chip-In, if you've posted or for more information.

Have a blessed day!!!!

Pizza Casserole Recipe - yumilicious!

I promised to share this if it made the cut...
and since my people ate most of the two pans, I guess we can call it a hit!

I'm making two more pans for freezing today.

I got the recipe from HERE

Pizza Casserole

Ingredients:
1 — 2 jars red pasta sauce (just depending on how “saucy” you like it)
1 box penne pasta (cooked & drained)
2 — 3 Cups mozzarella cheese
1 C shredded Parmesan cheese
Pizza Toppings of your choice (we used pepperoni,  about 30, but you can add black olives or whatever!)
Directions:
1. Spread a thin layer of sauce along the bottom of a pan (prepare pan with cooking spray first)
2. Place 1/2 the pasta noodles on top of the sauce.
3. Arrange half of your pizza toppings on top of the noodles
4. Top that layer with mozzarella. I used a little less than half so that the top would be a little more cheesy!
5. Continue layering with the other half of the ingredients. Top the whole thing with the remaining mozzarella & sprinkle with shredded Parmesan cheese.
6. Cover with foil and bake at 350 for 30–45 minutes (until the cheese is bubbly & the top layer starts browning just a bit). You can remove foil for the last 15 minutes or so.

Of course, I doubled this and used two 9x13 pans, and I've tweaked the recipe just a bit.
I served it with baked potatoes, french bread and salad.
Go, be a hero!

Takin' Care of Business

Feelin' like there are so many loose ends to tie up, and I don't know where to start :)

First, regarding the auction, if you have not made contact with the vendor or received your items, please please let me know so I can take care of it.
Thank you again to everyone who participated!!!

Next, thank you to everyone who ordered a necklace from Jubilee's Jewels on our behalf!  We raised $360!!!  The Jubilee's Jewels fundraiser has ended, but I want to give a big shout out to Stacy for all she does ~ THANK YOU, SISTA!

Then, the Wild Olive Tee fundraiser is still going on through this week.

Finally, don't forget our iPad Mini fundraiser going on till Monday night!  I'd love to have one of these, but I'd love even more for YOU to have one :)  Thank you to everyone who has shared and entered so far!

Also, thank you for the recipes!  I'm making several dishes each day to freeze, and it's looking good!

My head's in a whirl with all I should be doing, but I can't help but smile when I think about holding Khloie in 2 weeks!!!!

Chip-In Has Done it Again...

During our last few fundraisers we've discovered that the Chip-In button was giving people trouble :(

Maybe it's because Chip-In will be shutting down soon, or maybe it's just finicky.

Either way, I'm really sorry for the hassle.
Here's the Chip-In

If you want to be entered in the iPad drawing and have trouble doing so through Chip-In, please email me, and I will try to fix it.
Thank you for blessing us!!!!

Khloie is coming home, Thank You, JESUS!

*Give Me Your Freezable Dish Recipes, Puleeeze!*

Two weeks from today we will be China bound.
It hasn't sunk in yet!

An amazing family will be moving into our oh-so-crowded home in our two-week absence.

One way I can make things a little easier for this mama is to prepare some meals for freezing.  After all, she will be feeding 18 people on a daily basis - yikes!

And if she decides to cook fresh every day, or meals miraculously appear at our doorstep...then I'll have meals ready for the fog of jet lag :)  You know that feeling, 24 eyes staring at you, wondering what's for dinner, and you haven't even thought about it - gah!

I've started a list of dishes that freeze well...and here's where you can help!

Do you have a super-delicious recipe that I can double or triple and will freeze well?

*hint* I'm not into complicated, fancy dishes.  We like ground beef and chicken...and ground beef...and cheese :)  I would love to try some new things though that will please a crowd!

Can't wait to see what you've got!!!!

This is it!!! (Apple iPad Mini 32GB)

This is it!
We are down to the wire, leaving in 2 weeks!!!

Apple iPad Mini MD529LL/A (32GB, Wi-Fi, Black)

Here's the thing, God has blown us away with His provision, especially in the past week.
On February 10th we estimated we still needed $16,000+ to be fully funded.
Today, February 19th, we are within 4 to 6,000!!!
We are leaving in two weeks, and before that time we will wire our in-country China fees.
God has literally provided for Khloie to come home one dollar at a time, and last week the floodgates were opened.

~We are holding one final fundraiser to help cover our travel fees~
*iPad 32 GB mini runs from February 19 to   February 25
*Each $25 donation gets 1 shot
*Each $50 donation gets 3 shots, etc...
*Each FB or blog post gets 1 additional shot
*You may use the Chip-in on the sidebar
Please leave a comment or email me to let me know if you've posted.

God is so very good!  We never, in our wildest dreams, imagined when Khloie stole our hearts that we would bring her home eight months later!  That is GOD!

We have asked God to break our hearts for the things that break His, not in a way that makes us cry, but in such a way that it causes us to move.  It is often frightening and lonely, and always life-changing.  He is faithful, even when we are not!  To Him be the glory!

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Matthew 6:19-21

Consulate Appointment!!!

Today I have spent the entire day looking at flight itineraries...and we are booked!

We are flying out on March 7 and returning March 21, but the really good news is that we meet Khloie Nicole on March 10th!!!!
*more later ~ I need to pay attention to my neglected family :)*

God, You are so very good!!!

We Have a Winner, and...

Saying THANK YOU is not enough!
It doesn't even begin to touch the gratitude we feel for God's faithfulness and your generosity!
We are so very grateful!
Thank you for praying; thank you for sharing; and thank you for giving!

But it doesn't end there...

Last night just before 10 pm we drew the winner of the Canon T3i Rebel.  I was so giddy excited I could hardly wait!

We drew Ashley Buffa, who donated at 4:17 pm on February 13!
Then I sent her this email:

Ashley, we just drew for the Canon and you won!!!!!
Congratulations!!!!!
Please confirm your shipping address, and I will order from Amazon tomorrow and ship it directly to you.
Thank you for blessing us, and may God bless you!!!
Love,
Connie

I always notify the winner before I announce it on the blog.  You know, let them celebrate privately for a moment before I shout it out :)
This morning I received this email from Ashley:

Hey Connie,

I'd prefer that ya'll just keep the money for your adoption fund. I'd rather see you fully funded than have a camera!

God bless!

BLOWN AWAY!!!!
This is exactly how God has been showing Himself this past week.  It's not because we deserve it.  It's not because we expect it.  It's just because HE'S THAT GOOD!!!

Thank you, Ashley!
We pray that each and every one who prayed, shared and gave is blessed beyond belief!

God Unchanging

Even though everything in my life changes, from my mind to the unforeseen circumstances, God is always the same!   (Psalm 102:26-27)

I am so glad I can rely on this truth.  The ‘crises’ and ‘emergencies’ of daily life with a super-size family can be overwhelming at times.  They catch me off guard, throw me for a loop.  Why?  Because I am a Type A, plan-ahead, scheduled-it-or-forget-it kinda gal.  Something that seemed important to me yesterday may be insignificant today.

When God invited our family to join Him on another journey to adopt, it wasn’t a whim, an afterthought or a joke.  It was an invitation.  One that ultimately would test our faith and bring Him glory.

He did not change His mind when things got tough.  Numbers 23:19 says, “God is not a man, that he should lie, not a son of man, that he should change his mind.  Does he speak and then not act?  Does he promise and not fulfill?”

God’s plans cannot be thwarted.  His plans are from eternity past.  So if He invites us to do the impossible, will He not accomplish the impossible?

God is revealing Himself in astounding ways in the last leg of our journey to bring our daughter home.  He has touched the hearts of His people, and He has blessed us in ways we couldn’t even fathom.

I stand in awe as I watch His plans unfold.  I tell of His goodness as He continues to move.  I stand on His promises to bring His plans to fruition.  I praise Him for what He will do.

Because He is God unchanging!

Oh, One More Thing...

We have an unofficial travel update!
And an extension to the Wild Olive Tees fundraiser!

First things first ~ Khloie!
Due to Lifeline staff taking a medical missions trip to China the first week of March, it is in the best interest of our travel group to wait till the second week.
Yes, I want to hold Khloie on March 4th!  And yes, I have faith that God will provide all we need, no matter when we travel!
But...since we will probably not know our confirmed consulate appointment until next Tuesday, (which means booking tickets 10 days before flights, which means higher prices)...we are okay with waiting one more week, having our Gotcha Day on March 11th!

In light of this, our Wild Olive Tee fundraiser has been extended 2 more weeks!  If you've been waiting to get your fabulous tee, now is the perfect time!!!  Among the adoption fundraiser tees are women's, children's and even a men's tee to choose from!  Just go HERE, select your tee(s) and when you check out, please use our family code: JOHNSON704.

To Him be the glory!!!!

Two Things...

We are doing one final push of Stacy's Jubilee's Jewels pendants to help bring Khloie home!  Stacy has been so generous to create these beautiful pendants, and one half the proceeds of every single sale goes to our adoption fund!

For the rest of this week you can order the pendant and help Khloie come home.

Here's what Stacy says about the pendant:

Faith Hope Fundraiser
Price: $30.00 Availability: In Stock Product Code: FUND
My precious friends, the Johnson Family, are headed back to China to bring home another treasure!  $15 from each necklace sale will go directly to their adoption fund.  Stop on by their blog and meet this amazing family and follow their journey to their precious girl.
This listing includes:
~one 1" silver/nickel heart pendant
~one fresh water pearl charm
~one 18" chain (varies)
Go here to order.

Second, about the auction ~ all vendors have been notified of your shipping addresses.  Those who won the beautiful Ugandan items likely have not received them because Mary is in Uganda right now!  But she has all the information and will ship your items as soon as she returns, I believe this week.  Regarding any auction item, if you have not received yours or heard from the vendor by the end of next week, please email me.  And I need to bump up the total auction proceeds to $2378!!!!

Okay, three things :)  The Canon fundraiser runs through this Sunday so get your shot now!  Thank you to those who have shared, those who have given through Paypal and those who have handed us checks!  We were blown away by the first day!!!

Oh, one more thing...I just heard from Amie at Wild Olive Tees that we sold 72 TEES!!!!!!!  Thank you so much for getting your verse on to help bring Khloie home!

Have a beautiful Tuesday!!!

How about a shot at it?!?
The reality is that we could be boarding a plane in 18 days!  It's possible we won't know for sure for another week.  One thing we do know for sure is that we still need to fund raise like c.r.a.z.y.  So while we're at it, why not add something sweet to the mix?!?

Clayton shared a brief testimony in church this morning about saying 'yes' to the Lord.  When I first approached him about specifically adding Khloie to our family, he emphatically said 'no.'  Then the Lord spoke.  And being the faithful, god-fearing man he is, my husband said 'yes.'  He said we would take a leap of faith and trust that God would provide all we need to bring Khloie home.  He said yes, knowing full well that we aren't capable of doing this on our own.  He said yes, with a million unanswered questions about her health.  He said yes, knowing full well we exhausted our savings many journeys ago.  He said yes, knowing that this life is not our own!  AMEN!  He said yes, knowing full well this plan would fail unless God Almighty intervened.

And God has done just that!  To our utter amazement, He has provided every dollar as we've needed it, from our pre-adoption medical visits, to our home study and immigration fees, agency fees and more.  And then He blew us away with a speedy LOA and an even speedier TA!  Only He can do that.  Honestly, we had our calendar marked for LOA next month.  But God!  He brought LOA December 21, after waiting only 22 days!  So then we had our calendar marked for TA the end of this month.  But God!  He brought TA on February 8, after waiting only 5 days!

Now it's nearly time to book tickets.  We know for certain that He has not brought us this far only to leave us stranded.  No way!  Our God is faithful.  He is good.  He loves the family.  He loves the orphan.  And we are willing to work our fingers to the bone because we love HIM!  We are humbled that He would invite us to take this adoption journey with Him.  We can't wait to hold Khloie in our arms, and all glory to Him, that will happen very soon!

So, we have several things planned for the next 18 days or so, starting with this Canon T3i Rebel!  This is one of the first camera models we gave away.  It has similar features and ratings to the Nikon D5100 we just gave away.  Here's how you can get a shot:

*Runs from today, February 10 to next Sunday, February 17.
*You may use the Chip-In on the sidebar or email me for other options.
*Each $25 contribution gets 1 shot
*Each $50 contribution gets 3 shots
*Each blog or FB post gets 1 additional shot
(Please let me know if you've done this)

~I will let you know what date we fly out once our consulate appointment is confirmed.  That will also affect the scheduling or rescheduling of our Both Hands project.~

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

TA, Baby!!!!

I knew it.
I just knew it!
I started nesting on Wednesday.
On Thursday I was feeling almost human again.
On Friday I spent the day hitting 'refresh' on my computer, waiting for an email from our agency.
At 5 pm I gave up and headed to Kenzie's basketball game.
CC*WA is closed for the next week to celebrate Ch*nese New Year so I'd resolved that we would not hear anything now.
And then, 20 minutes from the game I got the message:
"I've got your

Oh my goodness!!!
Since the consulate is closed on the Ch*na side until Thursday, we won't have a confirmed consulate appointment until at least then.  It may even be as late as Tuesday the 19th when we hear.

But here's what we know: we will likely need to be in Khloie's province on or before March 1!!!!  Our consulate appointment will likely be the week of March 12, which puts us back home in time for spring break ~ some down time for Khloie to settle in with all her siblings.

We also know that we serve a big God!  We were amazed when we received our LOA in only 22 days.  And we were astonished when we received our TA in only 5 days.  It's likely we are leaving in only 20 days.  Which means God is going to provide the additional $14,000 we need IN THE NEXT 20 DAYS!!!!!!!  He has orchestrated Khloie's homecoming in a time line we couldn't have imagined!

My heart is full!!!

Retail Therapy, Nesting and Randomness

Wednesday night I started nesting.  It took me a second to recognize it.  But having drug myself off the couch to actually prepare a meal and then having the urge to clean the oven and the fridge, I realized this was not an ordinary burst of energy; this was nesting!

Yesterday I felt well enough to finally venture on a desperately needed grocery shopping trip.  After all, hubby has been handing me a legal pad for over a week, asking me to make a list, and I kept pushing it away.  We'd finally eaten all the quick foods I keep around for game days, and it was time to do some real meal planning.

So, for the first time in ten days I did my hair, applied makeup...and then had to rest :(
But eventually three kids and I made the trek to W*lMart.

The icing on the cake was finding some girlie winter items on sale!  Just the kind of therapy this mama's morale needed!

Now Khloie has a darling little jacket, bunny hat, 4 pairs of jammies, hair bows and accessories.

And we did buy groceries.  We also picked up another bunk bed waiting for us so now I can show you the girls' very crowded but darling room!

Today I only sound like I have a cold!  No fever; no headache; no body aches; no twisted taste buds; no heavy chest; no coughing fits that take my breath away.
After 11 days, I declare I am well, thank You, Jesus!

Auction Grand Spankin' Total!!!!

Wow!
God is good!
And y'all are so good to us too!
We still have a few checks coming in this week, but I wanted you to know the auction brought in...

Thank You, Jesus!!!
Many of you added on to your already generous bids - thank you so much!
And I just can't thank our vendors/donors enough - without you there wouldn't have been an auction!

On Friday morning we will be considered for an adoption assistance grant.  Would you please join us in praying for a favorable outcome?

In other news, nearly all the auction vendors have been contacted with the winning bidders' information!  As items are delivered I will remove them from the side bar.

And more news, we are officially awaiting TA!!  The CC*WA will close an entire week to celebrate Chinese New Year, starting this weekend, so nothing will happen next week :(

And on the sick front, thank you for praying.  You know when you've been wicked sick and  you wake up one morning and realize you are well...I'm waiting for that day.

A Beautiful End to an Otherwise Ugly Week

Not everything about last week was bad.
The auction was awesome!
The camera giveaway was too!
But the sickness that invaded our home was awful.
And it's still here, with me.
I've never been so sick for so long, and I never want to be again.
One bright spot was the surprise update we received on Khloie!

And now I am so ready to hold our little darlin'!
Not long now!!!
